Informations about the individual DVDs

For 30 years we publish the films by Christoph Schlingensief. Now we continue the series with treasures from the archive with a particularly beautiful and elaborate Edition. The aim is to make unknown works, that were previously accessible only to a small circle, visible in optimal quality.
A special feature is that the DVDs  have not only one feature film, but a much more extensive collection of material, that allows a private access to each work without a comment. So there are, for example, of the theater works several records, sample recordings, change of perspective and interviews. Projection films of "The Animatograph" or of the theater plays can be seen for the first time separately. Many clips, films and the "Atta Atta" - lectures were cut by Christoph Schlingensief original video team for the DVD edition and for the DVD booklets some additional texts were written by Christoph Schlingensief's playwrights.
Except for TUNGUSKA, MENU TOTAL, EGOMANIA, MUTTERS MASK, 100 YEARS OF ADOLF HITLER, THE GERMAN CHAINSAW MASSACRE, TERROR 2000, UNITED TRASH, THE 120 DAYS OF BOTTROP (restored films) and SCHLINGENSIEF – A VOICE THAT SHOOK THE SILENCE all DVDs are previously unpublished. All major films are subtitled in English for the first time, also to make it internationally accessible.
The Edition create in cooperation and with the support of the Goethe Institute Munich.

His wife gives birth to darkskinned Peter Panne, he has a deep cleft on his head and the locals worship him as the Messiah. Everyone wants to use the boy for their own ends. In the TV series "U3000" Christoph Schlingensief mutates into a loathsome host and bloodthirsty exorcist who casts the television out of the television. Established TV formats are parodied and plundered on a running Berlin subway. HAMLET (2001)

His staging of "Hamlet" at Schauspielhaus Zürich takes shots at the right-wing populist Swiss People's Party (SVP). Schlingensief's "Hamlet" can be interpreted as a tribute to the classic – it even includes audio recordings from the legendary 1963 Gustaf Gründgens' staging. "Quiz 3000" presents what is for him the only acceptable form of serial dramatic art in this theatrical “televisionary” TV quiz show. "Quiz 3000" was inspired by the German version of "Who Wants to Be a Millionaire?." Schlingensief frees the show from the idiot box and turns it into a live theatrical event. The theatrical production "Atta Atta" – Part 1 of Schlingensief’s "Atta trilogy" – is set between his parents’ home, an amateur film club and his alter ego’s studio.
Once Schlingensief has razed his own biography, "Atta Atta" unveils a campsite with a perch, artificial turf and fake flowers – this is where art has made itself comfy. "Art and Vegetables" is Schlingensief's attempt at self-therapy after the trauma of directing "Parsifal" in Bayreuth: Schlingensief has African artist Hosea Dzingirai and ALS patient Angela Jansen assume live direction of "Art and Vegetables". Jansen intervenes via a computer from a bed in the audience. Revenants from the art scene take the stage. "ATT" is about Richard Wagner, 9/11, Hagen von Tronje, Odin and the Edda, and the construction of the African Animatograph.
Fragments of a shock. Planned as a film about the Wagner Festival in former German Southwest Africa and filmed in Namibia, it treats the viewer to a parallel world of surreal acts that only the observer can piece together. Christoph Schlingensief's second Wagner work "The Flying Dutchman" he realized in the framework of XI. Festival Amazonas de Ópera in Manaus (Brasil). In April 2007 Schlingensief staged Wagner’s opera in Manaus. His Fluxus Oratorio "A Church of Fear vs. The Alien Within" is devoted to his cancer diagnosis that same year: Fear is the rock on which Schlingensief builds his church. The rest is an African cultural program and Western navel-gazing on the level of a promotional tour aimed at opening the audience’s wallets.
