With his theater and art actions, as a filmmaker and opera director, Christoph Schlingensief (1960 – 2010) shaped cultural and political discourse in Germany over two decades. His second Wagner work “The Flying Dutchman” he realized in the framework of XI. Festival Amazonas de Ópera in Manaus (Brasil).

In April 2007 Schlingensief staged Wagner’s opera in Manaus. He leaves the theatre and goes into the jungle as on the Rio Negro before going back into the Teatro Amazonas. 18 short films, he’s shooting meanwhile, will be part oft he installation „Trem Fantasma“ (an opera ghost train) in São Paulo end of 2007.
